No, I do not have them mixed up. The rear on mine
works halfway decently (and quietly). The front
brake howls like it is going to self destruct, and
the few times I used it, the bike surged so bad that
it was unsafe.
As far as what I have against front brakes, which is
actually 75-90% of the braking power, I don't
like front end dive, shaking, noise from the system,
the tendency to lock, the tendency to fail, etc.
Front brakes also degrade the handling as far as
my riding style goes, and to my eye detract as
much from the aesthetics as a front fender or
hydraulic front suspension.
I like choppers, and when the money and time are
right, my savage will have a fenderless, brakeless,
springer front end.
